Principal Engineer Pressure Systems - Centrica Energy - The Overview
The Principal Pressure System Engineer is recognised as the technical authority for pressure systems and is responsible for compliance to Centrica Engineering Standards, as well as internationally recognised design and fabrication standards. In addition the incumbent will provide support to non-operated assets leadership advising upon any aspect of pressure system integrity.
The Principal Pressure Systems Engineer will provide day to day surface pressure system engineering support to Operating assets to help solve technical problems in order to ensure high production availability. The incumbent will have ownership (develops, manages and review) of relevant pressure system Performance Standards of Safety Critical Elements (SCEs) in support of the Verification Scheme, proactively monitor SCEs for compliance and for addressing any SCE performance issues.
Principal Engineer Pressure Systems - Centrica Energy - The Role
  • It will require the individual to be proactive with well developed inter personal skills.
  • Key relationships will be formed with Asset Integrity Managager, Principal Integrity Engineers, Projects and hub leadership team.
  • Have ownership (develops, manages and review) of relevant pressure system Performance Standards of Safety Critical Elements (SCEs) in support of the Verification Scheme, proactively monitor SCEs for compliance and for addressing any SCE performance issues.
  • Be the point of contact for escalation, when required, to review the pressure vessel asset integrity activities, monitoring inspection reports, identifying production threats and at all times assuring the business of the integrity and availability of pressure systems.
  • Develop and lead a significant programme of sustained improvement in pressure systems integrity through engineering across North Sea and Morecambe Hub.
  • Approve or reject requests for deviations from technical standards and procedures and ensure these are assessed for risk and documented for action to support project implementation and review appropriate MOCs.
  • Work very closely with the Asset Integrity Manager to deliver a sustained improvement in the understanding of the integrity of the pressure systems and their life-cycle management.
  • Work very closely with the Asset Integrity Manager to deliver up to date and precise status report for pressure system integrity.
  • Experience of performing in service assessments using industry recognised code to determine Fitness For Service Pressure vessel and piping system design evaluation.
  • Provide day to day surface pressure system engineering support to Operating assets to help solve technical problems in order to ensure high production availability.
  • Provide clear direction as to the compliance with statutory legislation in pressure system integrity management all engineering areas, audit assets as necessary to ensure compliance.

Desired Skills and Experience

Principal Engineer Pressure Systems - Centrica Energy - The Person
  • Proven professional engineering experience in pressure system E&P Surface technologies
  • Has sound understanding of the safety and commercial impact of engineering decisions on an operated asset.
  • Proven experience within pressure system management and regulatory compliance
  • Degree qualified to BSc/MSc BEng in a relevant Engineering discipline and a chartered Engineer with extensive experience.
